Our equipment is in every major airport in Canada ...
having Southport’s airfield is a huge advantage to us,
as we test some of our equipment out there.
HOW MANY AIRPORTS USE YOUR SNOW REMOVAL EQUIPMENT? ► We
are in over 50 airports. Our equipment is in every major airport in Canada, a
lot of airports in the North East part of North America.
WHAT ADVANTAGES DOES SOUTHPORT HAVE FOR ATI? ► Having
Southport’s airfield is a huge advantage to us, as we test some of our
equipment out there. Our equipment is very large and expensive to ship, so
the central location of Southport is also an advantage to us.
HOW WAS ATI STARTED? ► My Dad (Barry Smith) along with his
business partner Garry Wright, started this business 19 years ago. Together
they have a combined 47 years of experience in the airport business,
specifically on the operations side. They first started as a company that
would refurbish broken parts of airport equipment they already had. After
they refurbished it they would then sell it for half the price of a brand new
part. Today we no longer refurbish parts, everything is made brand new. It
is important to acknowledge how it all started because our whole company
is built on the idea that we really understand why our customers need
equipment, when they need it, and what we need to do in an event of a
breakdown. We focus on not only the service side but the way that we
design our equipment is with the operator in mind as well.
HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT EXPANDING INTO HIGHWAY OR STREET
SNOW REMOVAL EQUIPMENT? ► This is a very common question that
we get. Our equipment is all specialized and handmade specifically for
clearing snow off runways very fast. Our equipment isn’t mass produced for
different uses like city plows it is made for one specific use. So no, we will
not be expanding into road clearing equipment.
